One Meal One Day

I’m skipping a meal on November 6th and invite you to skip it with me! It’s all part of an event called One Meal One Day – a nationwide initiative of Compassion International to help meet the urgent nutritional needs of children in extreme poverty. The idea is to skip one meal and then donate the money that you would have spent on that meal to Compassion.
I am also fundraising, with a goal to raise $100 before November 6th.  All donations will help children registered in Compassion’s programs whose extraordinary needs exceed the capacity of Compassion’s regular activities.

Please, join me in participating in One Meal One Day. Anyone can help raise awareness and fundraise – even if they choose not to skip the meal. To make a donation, make checks payable to “Compassion International” with “OMOD” in the memo line and mail them to me (email me at ca85@yahoo.com for my address).  Otherwise you can give on the online fundraising site (link listed below).  If you would like more information about One Meal One Day, feel free to contact me or visit onemealoneday.org.
Also as an added incentive, I'm going to do a contest for all those who donate on my online fundraising site (see the link above) or that send me a check for this.  I'll put names in a hat and do a drawing for your choice of a handmade scarf, a bracelet, or a necklace (I can text pictures to whomever wins to make the choice from).  So far I only have one entrant so your chances are pretty good.  Help make this a competition by donating today.
Thanks!

Bubblews

Yesterday while on Facebook I noticed someone talking about a blog site that you could post your thoughts to that also paid you money for all views, likes, comments, etc.  I figured why not try it, since then I could earn more money to use towards my child sponsorships.  Unfortunately with the site you aren't supposed to put links to other websites (such as Compassion or my referral links to sponsor a child), so I'll still be posting all that here when I have time, but I figured why not use another form of writing to earn money.

You have to earn $25 before you can cash out, but yesterday alone with one tiny article I got $1.17.  I wrote two articles today and only have another 20 cents so far but maybe people aren't viewing their site until later tonight.  Either way, I figure if I can start getting a following or views and make at least a buck a day, that would be great!  A better goal yet would be to earn at least $38 a month since that would pay for the sponsorship of one of my Compassion kids (or to use as a backup in case one of my 6 correspondence kids gets dropped by their sponsor since I'd never be able to say goodbye).  Otherwise family gifts.

So, if you want to check out my site to view it, that would be great!

Blog Month.....I won!

Last month I participated in blog month with Compassion.  Of all the bloggers that wrote and entered, I was lucky enough to be one of the 5 winners selected....all thanks to YOU!

To win, I needed to write blog posts (check!), as well as get at least one child sponsored through my blog.  Apparently one of my wonderful readers sponsored a child through my site, so I want to send a big thank you to whomever you are.  Not only are you helping a child in need (really the most important thing) but it also helped me become eligible for the drawing in which I was then drawn to win some prizes.

Thanks again to all my readers and to that special person out there who sponsored a child through my site.  If you want to let me know who you are, I'd love to learn which child touched your heart (if not, I totally understand too).

Have a great weekend everyone.

One Meal One Day

This year I will be participating in the One Meal One Day fundraiser with Compassion International, where on November 6, you pledge to skip a meal and donate the money you would have spent on that meal to this great cause.  The money goes to help children in poverty receive the much needed nutrition they lack.

To give, you can either send a check to me (made out to Compassion International.....just message me for my address), or you can donate online at this fundraising page:  http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/KatieChurchill/fall2013

Clickable link to the donation page

Any help would be awesome!
