Thankful
This month as part of the Compassion Blog assignment we were asked to pick one word for the upcoming year. I have selected "thankful" as my word.
I am thankful for so much in life! I am thankful to God every day for being alive, healthy, safe, and loved by him.
I am thankful for my Compassion kids. I love getting letters and kind words from them, and I love being able to write to them as well. They are my "kids" since we don't have any ourselves yet. I love them to pieces and am thankful to be a part of Compassion International in this way.
I am thankful for my husband. He works hard for our family and is a very devoted church going guy. He's great.
I am thankful for my family (parents, brother, in-laws, etc.). They are all great too and I can't imagine life without them.
I am thankful for our house and neighbors. We live in a great family friendly area with neighbors who go out of their way to plow for me, have us over for supper, etc. They are wonderful.
I am thankful for my job (and my husbands). Although I don't always like my job (or aspects of it), I am thankful for the paycheck that allows us to travel, support our Compassion kids, afford our house, etc.
This coming year I will try to remain thankful, as it is easy to forget all the good things we have to be thankful for when one bad thing happens. We need to have joy through the bad times, as Jesus taught us.

One Meal One Day
I’m skipping a meal on November 6th and invite you to skip it with me! It’s all part of an event called One Meal One Day – a nationwide initiative of Compassion International to help meet the urgent nutritional needs of children in extreme poverty. The idea is to skip one meal and then donate the money that you would have spent on that meal to Compassion.
I am also fundraising, with a goal to raise $100 before November 6th. All donations will help children registered in Compassion’s programs whose extraordinary needs exceed the capacity of Compassion’s regular activities.
Please, join me in participating in One Meal One Day. Anyone can help raise awareness and fundraise – even if they choose not to skip the meal. To make a donation, make checks payable to “Compassion International” with “OMOD” in the memo line and mail them to me (email me at ca85@yahoo.com for my address). Otherwise you can give on the online fundraising site (link listed below). If you would like more information about One Meal One Day, feel free to contact me or visit onemealoneday.org.
Also as an added incentive, I'm going to do a contest for all those who donate on my online fundraising site (see the link above) or that send me a check for this. I'll put names in a hat and do a drawing for your choice of a handmade scarf, a bracelet, or a necklace (I can text pictures to whomever wins to make the choice from). So far I only have one entrant so your chances are pretty good. Help make this a competition by donating today.
Thanks!

Bubblews
Yesterday while on Facebook I noticed someone talking about a blog site that you could post your thoughts to that also paid you money for all views, likes, comments, etc. I figured why not try it, since then I could earn more money to use towards my child sponsorships. Unfortunately with the site you aren't supposed to put links to other websites (such as Compassion or my referral links to sponsor a child), so I'll still be posting all that here when I have time, but I figured why not use another form of writing to earn money.
You have to earn $25 before you can cash out, but yesterday alone with one tiny article I got $1.17. I wrote two articles today and only have another 20 cents so far but maybe people aren't viewing their site until later tonight. Either way, I figure if I can start getting a following or views and make at least a buck a day, that would be great! A better goal yet would be to earn at least $38 a month since that would pay for the sponsorship of one of my Compassion kids (or to use as a backup in case one of my 6 correspondence kids gets dropped by their sponsor since I'd never be able to say goodbye). Otherwise family gifts.
So, if you want to check out my site to view it, that would be great!
